Join the SSI Science of Diving course and you will develop a more complete understanding of the underwater world and its effects on the human body. This course is a staff favorite as we like to collaborate on teaching this so that we may give everyone an opportunity to share their passions. It's also an opportunity for you, as a student, to have interaction with a wider slice of our staff and maybe get some insight as to what it's like to work as a dive professional either here locally or abroad. You also get a more in depth review of topics that are so important in diving, and its encouraged as the first step towards earning your Dive Master certification or for those seeking more technical training.

This is the most sought-after title within the SSI curriculum, as it gives you the experience and ability to safely lead others on daily fun dives! The SSI Dive Master qualification allows you to assist Instructors as a Certified Assistant on open water training dives. SSI Dive Masters teach Snorkeling and any of the six Ecology courses. It is also a prerequisite to any further SSI Professional ratings if you are looking to make diving a new career and become an SSI Instructor.

As an SSI Assistant Instructor you are able to teach a part of the Open Water Course like academic and Pool/confined water with indirect supervision of an Instructor or higher. You also can conduct and certified SSI Specialties when you have the applicable specialty program. This makes you as a valuable SSI professional for a dive center or resort and you may earn great experience to become a dive leader.

This training program entitles you to teach various key SSI programs independently like Scuba Diver, Open Water Diver, Enriched Air Nitrox, Diver Stress & Rescue and Dive Guide. For those who want to take more time to learn and to gain valuable teaching experience between the training programs the 3 parts can also be taken as single steps - Assistant Instructor, Instructor Training Course (ITC) and Instructor Evaluation (IE) one after the other at own pace and with a flexible schedule.
