Our Scuba Lessons program involves a home study system which utilizes manuals, study guides, and videos to thoroughly prepare our students in the academics of diving, minimizing classroom hours, and allowing our instructors to concentrate on pool training.

HOW
All classes, require Home study, Classroom knowledge review and Pool training in our own heated pool on the premises1 to make learning to dive convenient, easy and fun.
- San Francisco Program

A two hour orientation class is required before you begin our Open Water program. This orientation reviews the requirements, home study materials, schedule, and ocean dive options. We offer free orientations every Saturday afternoon at 2pm. A private orientation can be arranged, for a slight fee ($40.00).
For your convenience, we offer three options to complete your classroom and pool training:
- Evening programs meet two nights a week for two weeks. Classes meet from 6:00pm to 10:00pm on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
- Weekend programs meet Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.
- Private Lessons may be tailored to your personal learning style and individual scheduling needs.
Your Open Water Training is completed by performing a minimum of four ocean dives, held over two days in Monterey. If you wish to complete your certification dives on vacation we are happy to provide a Universal Referral Package. Take this package to an active SCUBA instructor anywhere in the world to complete your two days of ocean training. We’ll be happy to assist you with a recommendation from our vast diving experiences.
Our scuba classes fill quickly, and size is limited to ten students. Reservations can be made by placing a $50.00 non-refundable/non-transferable deposit at the time of registration. The balance is due at the first class meeting and is non-refundable/non-transferable upon receipt.

Our Certification course consists of a combination of academic reviews, skill development in the pool and four ocean dives. For your convenience, we offer two scheduling options:
- Evening programs meet two times a week for two weeks. Tuesdays 6:00 - 8:00pm and Thursdays 6:00pm - 8:30pm. Pool sessions are on Saturday and Sunday moming from 8:00am - 10:00am. We complete the course with four ocean dives on the weekend following the final pool session
- Private lessons can be tailored to your personal schedule.
Our programs fill quickly, and class size is limited. You may reserve your place by placing a $25.00 non-refundable deposit at the time of registration. The complete course fee is $299.00, including tuition, your student kit and rental of equipment for the ocean check out dives. All class fees are non-refundable upon receipt.

Because fit and comfort are very important, and to enhance your diving experience, each student must have their own personal snorkeling equipment - mask, fins, snorkel, boots and gloves. We sell a wide variety of most major brands of SCUBA equipment, and our professional staff will be happy to assist you in the proper selection of your equipment. Bamboo Reef will supply the remainder of the SCUBA gear for the pool training sessions. Rental of SCUBA gear for the ocean dive weekend is available.
To become certified, you will be required to complete Ocean Dives, over two days.
